WebClient Fails to Open After Authenticating – Loftware Problem Article

A recent update by Loftware requires that the major browsers allow local access to the client’s computer to run Loftware Web Client. If that permission is denied (or not granted), the Loftware Web Client will fail to open after authenticating into Microsoft or Google. As that update becomes available to the Web Client user, a permissions message states ‘login8.onnicelabel.com wants to look for and connect to any device on your local network’. If the Web Client user selects ‘Block’, the web client fails to open. In that case, the user must change settings in their browser to specifically allow local access to login8.onnicelable.com.
Situation and symptoms
- User is attempting to open Loftware Web Client (formerly NiceLabel Web Client) on a PC
- The browser (verified on Chrome and Edge) was not given local access permissions
Explanation
The latest version of Loftware Web Client needs local access from a browser to open correctly.
In the normal process, the user starts by running the Loftware Web Client app. The Loftware Web Client shows the Loftware flash screen while it opens a browser window. The ‘Sign in and connect’ pop-up screen comes us and the user is directed to select Windows or Google authenticated.

Once the user completes the Windows or Google authentication, the Loftware Web Client should then open and allow you to select a Loftware Web Application (i.e., form plus label design).

However, the Loftware Web Applications screen won’t display if the browser lacks the local access permissions for login8.onnicelabel.com.
Solution
The user will need to allow local access privileges in the preferred browser to login8.onnicelabel.com
