While trying to upgrade a print driver, the user received the error message, “Upgrading… Installing new files… Installation failed!”. The TEKLYNX driver upgrade failed to install. Fortunately, the solution is very simple. This article explains the cause and how to fix it.

Explanation

The driver upgrade failed because SENTINEL was running at the same time. SENTINEL uses the print driver to process jobs. Therefore, it cannot be actively running while attempting to upgrade the driver.

Solution

Resolving this conflict is a quick fix:

  1. Stop the Label Print Manager service. This shuts down SENTINEL.
  2. Run the upgrade installer.
  3. Then, after the installer is complete, restart Label Print Manager.
