Install and Configure SQL Reporting Services for BreadCrumbs Server – BreadCrumbs Instructions

Follow these instructions to properly install and configure SQL Reporting Services for BreadCrumbs Server.


Before beginning, you will need to have:

  • SQL Express Installer
  • Admin access to the server


  1. Launch the SQL Express installer
  2. Select Install SQL Server Reporting Services options.
  1. Click the link to download SQL Server 2022 Reporting Services.
  1. This will open a new page, click Download.
  1. Launch the installer
  2. Click Install Reporting Services.
  1. Select the Express edition
  1. Use the default location and click Install.
  1. Click on Close to complete the installation.
  1. Connect to the Report Server.
Confirm the Server Name and Instance, then press the Connect button.
  1. Select Service Account from the menu on the left of the screen.
  2. Make sure that Use built-in account is selected.
Define the Server Service Account
  1. Select Database from the menu on the left of the screen.
  2. Next, click the Change Database button on the right.
  3. Then, select Create a new report server database.
  4. Click Next.
Create a new report server database.
  1. Confirm the Server Name.
  2. Change the Authentication Type to SQL Server Account.
  3. Enter the System Administrator Username and Password that you created in Step 8 of Installing and Configuring SQL Express.
  4. Click Test Connection.
Review and confirm the default settings
  1. Confirm the default Database name ReportServer and language.
  2. Press Next.
Define the new report server database, keeping the default settings.
  1. Make sure that Authentication Type is set to Service Credentials.
  2. Click on Next to advance to the Summary.
Confirm the credentials.
  1. Review the database setup in the Summary.
  2. Press Next to create the database.
Confirm the information shown in the summary.
  1. Monitor the installation and confirm that the database has been installed correctly, clicking Finish when it has been created.
A successful database creation.
  1. Review the database installation in the Result portion at the bottom of the screen.
