SQL Protocol Settings for BACKTRACK Install (Allows Clients to Connect to Database) – BACKTRACK Instruction Article


This article details the procedure to set the correct SQL Configuration Protocols to allow BACKTRACK to connect to the database.


  1. Open SQL Server Configuration Manager (in All Programs / Windows SQL Server 2008 R2 / Configuration Tools
  2. In the left-hand navigation, go to SQL Server Configuration Manager (Local) / SQL Server Network Configuration / Protocols fro <Sql Server name>
  3. Make sure the following protocols and enabled:
    • Shared Memory
    • Named Pipes
    • TCP/IP
