“Could Not Locate Vision Device” – Datalogic VPM/CPM Error Message
Summary

This Error Message Article explains the Datalogic VPM error message “Could Not Locate Vision Device” and details how to fix the underlying problem that caused it to appear.
Explanation
VPM cannot connect to a camera. This is usually due to a physical disconnection between the MX processor and the camera. This can be due to a disconnect with:
- Ethernet connection between camera and processor or network
- Camera controller connection between camera and electrical panel/box
Solution
Work from the outside (camera) inward (back to the MX processor). There are two connections to the camera.
- Ethernet – Make sure the camera is getting power and the Ethernet port is firmly connected to both the camera on one end and the MX processor on the other end.
- Controller – Check the connection from the controller to the back end of the camera. The connector to the camera should snap in place. The connection into the electrical box needs to be traced to the controller block mounted inside the electrical box.
