Target Audience: Basic User, Advanced User, IT Manager

Summary

Many Loftware Cloud customers use MAC computers and would like to know how to use Loftware Designer to edit and print labels from Macintosh. This article explains what you can and can’t do with a MAC, and how to set up for printing.

Quick Reference

  1. A Macintosh computer can be used to design a label in a web browser with Loftware Designer Cloud, Cloud Essentials, Cloud Business, and Cloud Compliance.
  2. A Mac computer can be used to print a label from Loftware Cloud, but not to a Mac computer’s installed printers. The Mac must print to a Windows computer’s installed printers.
  3. A Mac cannot be used to download Loftware Designer from the Cloud to design labels on the desktop. Loftware Cloud is Windows software only. There is no Loftware app available for macOS or iPadOS.

Actions

Using a web browser only (Edge, Chrome, Safari, e.g.), a Mac can be used to design, edit, and print a label in Loftware Cloud. You would enter your Loftware URL into the browser, and enter your login credentials.

To print a label from the Mac, there must be at least one Windows computer that has downloaded and installed Loftware Designer from your company’s Loftware Cloud. The printers installed on the Windows computer will become available in the Cloud. (This happens with a Loftware Proxy service installed on the Windows computer).

On the Mac, a user can print to one of the Windows computer’s installed printers:

If you receive the message “No Connected Printers” – this means that there has been no printing to any printer using Loftware Cloud, Designer, or Automation. Loftware Cloud licensing will detect any print using Loftware software. A Windows computer with a printer would need to download Loftware Designer so that the printer becomes recognized. See below for instructions to add the printer.
