Loftware-NiceLabel Automation Actions Comparison (Easy vs Pro) – Loftware Reference Article

Target Audience: Advanced User, IT Manager, Basic User   |   Article #: 15718

Summary

This Reference Article defines and explains the available Actions in Loftware Automation (NiceLabel 10), comparing what is accessible at the Easy level versus the Pro (Business) level.

Information

Key Concept — Product Levels

Loftware Automation is available in three levels: Easy (Essentials), Pro (Business), and Enterprise (Compliance). Each level is a superset of the one below it, Pro includes everything in Easy, and Enterprise includes everything in Pro. A configuration file created at a higher level will not open at a lower level if it contains actions unavailable at that level.

Examples

The following are two common scenarios where an Easy-level workaround replaces a Pro-only action.

Example 1 — Replacing Set Print Parameter (Hopper/Tray Selection)

At the Pro level, the Set Print Parameter action dynamically selects a printer tray or magazine using a variable (e.g., setprintparam paperbin = “Magazine [Mag]”). This action is not available at the Easy level. The workaround is to use Run Command File with a CSV file containing the SETPRINTPARAM command. Because Run Command File executes NiceLabel commands natively, the printer driver correctly honors the SETPRINTPARAM instruction.

Example 2 — Replacing Send Custom Commands (SESSIONEND)

At the Pro level, the Send Custom Commands action is used for NiceLabel session control, such as the SESSIONEND command which closes a batch print session. At the Easy level, session printing is not supported, so SESSIONEND is not needed — each label prints as its own individual job, making session management commands unnecessary. No workaround is required.
