License is failed – TEKLYNX CENTRAL Error Message

Target Audience: Advanced User, IT Manager, Basic User

Article #: 13592

Summary

This Error Message Article explains the TEKLYNX CENTRAL error message “License is Failed”, which appears on the Command Center main form. This article also details how to fix the underlying problem that caused it to appear. The software may have already been activated. This is not a loss of activation, but the software has lost access to the activated license.

Explanation

The Command Center finds licensing information using the SLicense service. The SLicense service is unable to locate the license.

Solution

Launch Services in Windows.

Ensure SLicense is running. If there are no links to start, stop, or restart the service, you will need to obtain administrative privileges to see the links.

If SLicense starts and stops, refer to the article: SLicense Service will not stay in Running State – TEKLYNX Problem Article

If SLicense cannot start, the Windows account running the SLicense service may not have sufficient permissions to run the service. Refer to this article to add a service account to the service: Windows Could Not Start Service on Local Computer – Window Services Error Message

Should none of these resolve the issue, launch Event Viewer in Windows and capture the Error log. Refer to this article:

“The [Service name] Service on Local Computer Started and Then Stopped. Some Services Stop Automatically If They Are Not in Use By Other Services or Programs” – Windows Error Message (TEKLYNX Software)

Contact EBI, providing the Event Viewer error log.
