Label Fails to Completely Land on the Tamp Pad and Falls to Floor When Applied – ID Technology 252 Problem Article
Target Audience: Advanced User, Maintenance Technician
Article #:13901
Summary
This Problem Article explains a potential problem that causes the ID Technology 252 to drop a label as the label is being applied.

Situation and symptoms
- Applicator dispenses label to tamp pad
- Label sits on tap pad waiting for trigger
- Photo-eye triggers tamp arm
- Label falls to the floor when tamp arm extends to apply
Explanation
There may be several reasons for a label to fall to the floor when the tamp arm extends to apply.
In the case that caused this article, a nut that holds the pneumatic cylinder to the tamp pad was loose. As such, it prevented the tamp pad from fully returning to the applicator.

With the tamp pad not fully retracted, the label was not getting completely onto the tamp pad.

Thus, when the tamper extends, the end of the label not completely on the pad would catch on the print engine, pulling it off the tamp pad prematurely

As the label is pulled off the tamp pad prematurely, the label falls to the floor.
Solution
Tighten nut on pneumatic cylinder to make it flush with the arm connector.
