“Label archive login… – Connection Error” — LABEL ARCHIVE Error Message
Summary
This article explains the LABEL ARCHIVE error message “Label archive login…Connection Error” and details how to fix the underlying problem that caused it to appear.
- From CODESOFT
- From LA Client Console
- From LA Server Console

Explanation
CODESOFT, LABEL ARCHIVE Client Console, or LABEL ARCHIVE Server Console is unable to connect to the LABEL ARCHIVE server. There could be several causes for this including:
- The LABEL ARCHIVE Server service is not running (check Windows services)
- Incorrect LABEL ARCHIVE Client Administration settings (check server setting in LABEL ARCHIVE Client Administration “Client Configuration” node)
- Execute option for the “Get Permission for User” permission not selected (check UMSS permissions for the affected login user group)
Solution
Cause #1: The LABEL ARCHIVE Server Service Is Not Running

Start the LABEL ARCHIVE Server service. Anything related to LABEL ARCHIVE will fail if this service is not running.
Cause #2: Incorrect LABEL ARCHIVE Client Administration settings
One of the most common reasons is that the LABEL ARCHIVE Client Administration is not configured correctly. In a recent example, the “Server Name” in the LABEL ARCHIVE Client “Client Configuration” screen was “\\<server name>” instead of “<server name>” (backslashes should not be included).

Cause #3: Execute option for the “Get Permission for User” permission not selected
This error could occur if the Execute option for the “Get Permission for User” permission (LAS / Business Logic Operations section of the Permissions tab of the User Group Properties in UMSS console) is not selected.
