“Index used in list operation is not within bounds of existing list.” – Datalogic VPM/CPM Error Message

Summary

This Error Message Article explains the Datalogic VPM/CPM error message “Index used in list operation is not within bounds of existing list.” and details how to fix the underlying problem that caused it to appear.

Explanation

Each VPM “Tool” has a function and some will yield a specific value.  Depending on the tool and settings, a field in a VPM tool can be linked to a list of values instead of one value.  This message indicates that CPM, when running, is expecting a single value when the VPM tool is producing a list or vice versa…CPM is expecting a list but VPM is only sending out a single value.

Solution

Change the settings in the VPM tool (Properties) to have it match what is expected by the CPM tool (either list or single value).
