CODESOFT Freezes During Label Check-In – Label Archive Problem

Target Audience: Advanced User, IT Manager
Article #: 12949

Working within Label Archive, CODESOFT freezes during label check in. The user reported no problems opening or working on the file until checking it back in. As it turned out, the issue was not with the file, nor the software, but with a hardware change. Follow the instructions below to regain control of CODESOFT so you can complete the check in process.

Situation and Symptoms

  • Using CODESOFT and Label Archive
  • Both CODESOFT and Label Archive are older versions – v2014 or earlier
  • CODESOFT appears to freeze upon label check-in and no longer accept inputs
  • Workstation was previously operating in a multi-monitor configuration which has been changed

Older versions of Label Archive will automatically display the check-in dialogue on the same monitor most recently used in a previous session. If the user has removed a monitor since that last session, it will not appear on any of the remaining screens. As a result, even though the software is still operating normally, it appears to have frozen.

You will need to go into Windows Display settings to bring CODESOFT’s menu window to a connected monitor.

  1. Open Windows Display from the Start menu.
  2. Alternate through the Primary Screen options until the Check-In Menu appears.
  3. Once you can see the menu, complete the check-in process normally. CODESOFT will use this monitor the next time you check in a label.

Additional Comments

DISCLAIMER: This solution will not work for all instances of CODESOFT freezing. Rather, it is a solution to the very specific problem of older versions of TEKLYNX software and disconnected monitors.
